Only since the delivery of daily images from space to the living rooms of the people, everybody discovered that this planet is itself a spaceship with a tiny little layer of atmosphere which protects us from the dark and cold space.
A second major impact takes place in an almost invisible way by embedded applications of space technologies in our daily life. Who knows that much of the internet back bone traffic goes via satellite or that the tv-signal coming in by cable or terrestrial distribution could have gone before to a satellite and back from the location the signal was recorded. More visible is the influence of satellite navigation to the society as more and more cars use it.
So globalization in the mind of the people has to a certain extent started with space activites and space applications have reached the daily lives.
